October gave a party; the leaves by hundreds came- the Chestnuts, Oaks, and Maples, and leaves of every name. The sunshine spread a carpet, and everything was grand, Miss Weather led the dancing, Professor Wind the band. The Chestnuts came in yellow, the Oaks in crimson dressed; the lovely Misses Maple In scarlet looked their best; all balanced to their partners, and gaily fluttered by; the sight was like a rainbow new fallen from the sky. My, my, my, how time does seem to fly.  Seems as if we just started the new year, and here it is, Fall already.  At the farm we embrace the fall season with passion.  The amazing show that nature provides us with is nothing short of spectacular!  There is no question about it, the Northeast is the place to be when fall makes her grand entrance.

The seasonal produce changes slightly as the weather becomes cooler, so if you have any canning, or preserving of any kind, left to do you need to think about getting it done now, before Mr. Frost is at our door.

The 2006 growing season has been a challenging one for every gardener in the Northeast.  Due to the cold, wet spring and early summer months some of our late season crop harvests are delayed by about two weeks.   We were not able to open our fields for pick-your-own this year, but we do have fresh picked produce, including summer fare such as: pickles, cukes, green and yellow squash, ready for you-either by the pound or by the basket.  Our corn is sweet as it can be and, what is a sandwich without some fresh roasted peppers? Now is the time to enjoy these fresh products, because when the frost is on the pumpkin it will be a while before us New Englanders taste anything so fresh and delicious again.

Speaking of pumpkins...remember to stop by now to begin your fall decorating schemes.  We have gourds, Indian corn, pumpkins, winter squash, straw, corn stalks, and Mums, Mums, Mums.....

Oops, almost forgot to mention the best part!  Local, native Apples and pears are in season and offered fresh picked at the farm. Sold by the pound or by the basket.  Apple Cider is now available too-goes great with our home made pies (apple or pumpkin) and cookies (chocolate chip or peanut butter).  mmm, mmm, mmmm, I Love the Fall!

See you at the farm!
